MacAuliffe Genealogy Researchers Database

This page is just a small beginning. The table will list the names of ancestors being researched and the names of the researchers, who can be contacted by e-mail. It is suggested that people continue to use the McAuliffe Message Board to leave their information and enquiries as that is a forum that people are accustomed to using and I see the two as being complementary. The Message Board allows for replies to be added to the board and new entries can be easily seen, while the Researcher List will be sorted not by time of entry but by alphabetical order of the ancestor's first name.

E-mail protection. Whenever e-mail addresses are posted on a website there is the risk of harvesting of those addresses by spammers. I have looked at various ways of encrypting and encoding e-mail addresses to protect them from the spam e-mail harvesters. What I have learned is that while ways of defeating the harvesters have become more elaborate so too have the tools used by the harvesters. The best defence can be had from the spam filters provided by your ISP or your e-mail program. Make sure you have a good one and have it turned on. That way the spammers may harvest your address but your spam filter will make it useless to them. I shall therefore list the e-mail address of a researcher who wants to be added here but with one safeguard that is said to be still the most reliable (reference); the address will be on two lines - name first, followed by the domain. That should stop an automated harvester and will cause only slight inconvenience to the person wanting to contact the researcher. (see below for explanation).

I had considered copying information from the Message Board and McAuliffe entries on other genealogy message boards to this page, but that would require copying the e-mail addresses which have different protection on those sites. It will therefore be necessary for people to e-mail me their information with a request that it be added to this researcher page. Information provided should ideally include as much as is known about the person being researched in relation to the categories in the table below.

1. Highlight the name and ISP (all of the text in red).
2. Copy.
3. Paste address into your e-mail program.
4. Click onto end of first line.
5. Press 'Delete' to rejoin as one line.

To start the list I have put in my own research query. When I can find s suitable submission form I'll add it here. In the meantime you can e-mail me with your details and I'll add them.
